The Greatest News You Will Ever Hear!
The Good News (Gospel) of Jesus Christ.
Subject to minor changes and refinements.
EVERYONE is born with a sin nature and because of this we have all sinned and fallen short of Gods glory (Romans 3:23). We all deserve to be eternally separated from God in hell, because even one sin against the perfect God is worthy of punishment. That’s the bad news. The good news is that God made a way for humans to get to him, that way is through faith (trust) in Jesus Christ. Without Christ your completely (spiritually) dead in your sin.
God sent himself in human forum (Jesus Christ) to die the death we all deserve. (Romans 3:24-25)
Jesus died, was buried but three days later God rose him from the grave!
The fact Jesus rose again is so that you can have eternal life instead of death.
Jesus said count the cost of following him; it will be hard, it requires him be first in your life ;you will be persecuted in some way but it’s totally worth it. (2 Timothy 3:12, Mark 8:34)
You are saved when you truly put your faith in Christ [for your salvation] and repent. Placing faith in Christ and repentance go hand in hand. To repent just means to change ones mind. When you repent you will change your mind from resisting or not caring about Jesus to submitting and obeying him, and instead of indulging and not caring about sin you’ll learn to hate it. You will have faith and one is saved through faith (Ephesians 2:8), faith is a gift given by God when someones hears the good news of Christ. (Romans 10:17). It is simply your job to put that faith in Christ and trust him for your salvation. No amount of "good works", "salvation prayers" or church attendance can save you, only faith (trust) in the one who died for you can save you.
When someone truly does the above (truly puts their trust in Christ) they are forgiven by God and Born Again (this is called regeneration), the Holy Spirit comes into them and they are born into the family of true believers and they will be a new creation. 2 Corinthians 5:17
Evidence of True Salvation
After you receive faith and put it in Christ you will grow in your relationship with him and with other followers of Christ (reading the Bible and going to church etc). One of the next steps is to get baptized, not for salvation but to show others the change in your life. You’ll sin less and confess sin to God, you will live in Gods light and the fruit of the spirit will grow in you (1John 1). The faith you have will also produce good works that confirm you have the faith you clam to have. (James 2:26) All these aren’t things required to be saved but they are the result of true salvation. You ultimately will be rewarded by going to heaven instead of hell.
During life you will suffer for Christ in some forum or another but it’s 100% worth it in the end.
The TLDR of all this can be warped up in these verses:
“They replied, “We want to perform God’s works, too. What should we do?” Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: trust in and commit yourself to the one he has sent (Jesus).”
John 6:28-29 NLT+extra Greek words.
They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved"-Acts 16:31
